Australia and New Zealand Watercolour Society
- Watercolour New Zealand – Growing from a small group of artists in Wellington in 1975, Watercolour New Zealand is this country’s only society dedicated to the appreciation and promotion of watercolour painting.
- Australian Watercolour Institute – In August 1923, six established watercolourists met together at 50 Young Street, Sydney, with the aim of forming a society ‘to promote the art of painting watercolour in Australia’.
British Watercoluor Society
- Birmingham Watercolour Society – The Birmingham Watercolour Society was founded in 1907. Letters to the ‘Mail’, a local Birmingham, U.K. newspaper, suggested that there be an organisation formed which would be dedicated to the advancement of painting in watercolour. The response was considerable, and soon after the Society was born under the Presidency of Mr Walter Showell.
- Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour – The RSW has a pedigree dating from its foundation in 1876. As the Scottish Society of Water-Colour Painters it staged its first public Exhibition in 1879 in the rented premises it had acquired in West Nile Street in Glasgow, and its first elected President was Francis Powell RSW, already a Member of the RWS, one of the two earlier English watercolour societies.
- Royal Watercolour Society – The Royal Watercolour Society represents the finest watercolour painting in Britain; it is the oldest watercolour society in the world, established in 1804, and is second only to the Royal Academy of Art in importance as an art society.
- Ulaster Watercolour Society – The Ulster Watercolour Society represents most of the major watercolour artists working in the province of Ulster today. The society was formed in 1976 to promote watercolour in the province.
- Water Colour Society of Ireland – The Water Colour Society of Ireland was founded in 1870 in Lismore, Co Waterford. The stated objective of the Society is : “to promote and develop nationally the use and appreciation of watercolour and associated media amoung artists, students and the general public.”
USA Watercolor Society
- American Watercolor Society - The American Watercolor Society is a nonprofit membership organization that began in 1866 to promote the art of watercolor painting in America.
- Arizona Watercolor Association – The Arizona Watercolor Association (the AWA) was founded in 1960 by professional watercolor artists and instructors. The AWA is growing in stature and membership. It hosts a National Watercolor Exhibition, and two Membership Exhibitions, all juried by nationally acclaimed artists.
- Coachella Valley Watercolor Society – Membership is open to persons who are actively engaged in water color, water media painting and who wish to promote interests in water color in the Coachella Valley.
- Florida Watercolor Society – The Florida Watercolor Society held a first, second, and third annual exhibition from 1938 to 1941 under the presidency of Harold Hilton.
- Idaho Watercolor Society - The Idaho Watercolor Society was founded in the fall of 1979 to support and promote aqua media, and to educate the public as to the significance of the media. Active membership is open to those residing in the State of Idaho and is comprised of a range of painters from beginner to professional.
- Illinois Watercolor Society - The mission of the Illinois Watercolor Society is to advance the education and caliber of watercolor painting throughout Illinois.
- National Watercolor Society - The National Watercolor Society (NWS) brings before the public the best of watermedia painting, representing a wide range of directions and technique, from experimental to traditional.
- Northwest Watercolor Society – The Northwest Watercolor Society was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1939 to promote an interest in and an appreciation for watercolor as an artistic medium. The society expanded in 1992 to include members across the United States and Canada.
- The New Jersey Watercolor Society -The New Jersey Watercolor Society web site.
- San Diego Watercolor Society – More than 700 watermedia artists from around the world belong to The San Diego Watercolor Society.
- South Carolina Watercolor Society – Since 1977, the South Carolina Watermedia Society has been promoting the artistic and professional interests of its members as well as providing visual arts programs to the public.
- Transparent Watercolor Society of America – From its inception, the purpose of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America has been to advance the stature and foster appreciation of watercolor as a major medium.
Canada Watercolor Society
- Artist in Canada - ArtistsInCanada maintains the directory of links as a free service to the arts community. The directory is stored in a database where site visitors can search the links using a simple search interface. Visitors are invited to add their visual arts-related links to the directory.
- Federation of Canadian Artist – The Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) is a community of artists and art lovers. Its mission is to share and promote the passion and pleasure of the visual arts through exhibition, education and communication.
World Museums and Art Gallery
- Nordic Watercolour Museum – The Nordic Watercolour Museum is located in Sweden and is one of the most exciting cultural projecs in the Nordic countries. It serves as a Nordic center for contemporary art, for research and training, with the emphasis laid on techniques of watercolour art.
- Currier Museum of Art - The Currier Museum of Art is an internationally renowned art museum located in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Currier features European and American paintings, decorative arts, photographs and sculpture.
- Springfield Museums - The Springfield Museums, located in the heart of downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, is comprised of five world-class museums; the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts., the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, the Springfield Science Museum, the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum and the Museum of Springfield History. The Museums Association is proud to be home to the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, a series of full–scale bronze sculptures of Dr. Seuss’s whimsical creations, honoring the birthplace of Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss.
