Old Bicycle Watercolor Painting 15 x 20 inches

Last night I started a new watercolor painting and the subject is an old bicycle leaning against a brick wall.  I like this because of the shadow the bicycle cast on the wall plus the colorful rusted bicycle which I shall try my best to reproduce.  Watercolor painting is like story telling.  Instead of conveying the stroy through words, we use color, tone and composition to evoke feeling and lead the view into a scene.  The pencil outline is drawn on a 15 x 20 inches watercolor paper.  I started painting the top of the bicycle using Alizon Crimson, French Ultramarine Blue and Winsor Green to create a rich dark color.  I have the most fun in painting the bicycle headlight which end up to be quite a display of color.  I like to apply more intense watercolor and let it mix on the paper.  Because of the detail of the old bicycle, I need to paint very carefully so this watercolor painting might take longer to finish.
